A Gift For A Friend

The Challenge

My friend Vin is one of the best friends you could ask for. His birthday was coming up- and I wanted to get him a gift. Not having any money, I decided to make something for him that he would remember.

I settled on a poster he could hang on his wall, challenging myself to use Affinity Designer and Photos instead of Adobe Photoshop. Furthermore, I set a time limit of a day to get this project done. I'd wanted to diversify from Adobe for a while now, and this was the perfect opportunity to do that.

The Solution

Using my Photoshop skills, I adapted quickly to Affinity, looking up tutorials for any places where I was stuck. I experimented with masking, grain, textures and noise for this project, drawing inspiration from magazines such as the Times for design inspiration.

The Result

I'm proud of what I accomplished - a poster for someone who means a lot to me, and something he could be proud to hang up on the wall and enjoy (And he did!)
